Julia "Mavis" Anders Early, 77, of Pisgah Forest, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010
at her home. She was the youngest of the eleven children of Jule and Sorora Chapman
Anders. A native of Transylvania County, she spent many years living in Homestead,
Florida, where she raised her five children. Later in life, she returned to the mountains
and her deep-rooted family. She took in many family members and friends at various
times when they were between homes or when they needed a meal, a trait she inherited
from her mother. She always had a soft place in her heart for children and worried
about them all being taken care of, especially her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. Although she was a small-framed woman, she had a big personality
and feisty spirit and always found a way to make people laugh.
Surviving her are her sister Ruth Anders Dodson of Atlanta, Georgia; her children:
four daughters - Loretta Talley Dodson (Gary) of Pisgah Forest, NC, Julia "Judy" Early
Hitchner (Joey) of Homestead, FL, Rita Early Hooper (Larry) of Marshall, Texas, Teresa
Early Thompson (Daniel) of Deland, FL and one son - Randal "Randy" Anders (Lynn) of
Euless, Texas. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Sonya Dodson McCall, Rodney
Dodson, Amy Anders, Sarah Anders, Brock Anders, Crystal Richard, Mikey Griner,
Amber Griner Chatham, Kaelin Hooper, Amanda Thompson, Aaron Thompson, and
Andrew Thompson. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 28, 2010 at Pisgah Gardens with the Rev. Todd Alewine officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 27th, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
