Brevard - Kathryn Anne Parks, age 70, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021.
She was born in Milwaukee, WI, and lived there until 1959 when her family moved to Bradenton, FL. Her family purchased a home on Anna Marie Island (in the Gulf of Mexico) where Kathy would walk across a short field to attend elementary school. She graduated from Manatee High School in 1969 as a member of the Honors Society. She attended Patricia Stevens Career College in Tampa, Florida (a finishing school and fashion design college for women). In the early 1970s she worked as a display merchandiser with Bealls and Belk Lindsay Department Stores.
In 1976 Kathy moved to Denver, CO, and began working at Sears and Montgomery Wards Department Stores. A few years later she met her husband, Michael Dolan, who like her, loved the sense of adventure. The couple married on January 12, 1980. She continued to work at Wards as the manager of contract sales until 1982 when she and her husband moved to Vail, CO.
In 1983 Kathy gave birth to the couple's son, Sean, and began to work as a home day care provider. She also worked at the Eagle County Senior Center as the Center's Activity Manager for a few years. In short, Kathy brought a great deal of laughter and joy to young and old alike.
In 1986 she worked as the vice-president and chief operating officer of American Title of Eagle County. She sold the business in 1995 and decided to retire in Florida near her parents. She and her husband became actively involved with their community in Ocala, FL, until 2003 when they decided to build a home in the mountains of North Carolina near Brevard.
Never losing her sense of adventure, she and her husband traveled the world and explored over 50 countries together sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with many people they came in contact with. Often referring to herself as a "domestic goddess" Kathy Dolan became an accomplished writer of poetry and other short stories. In 2009 she published her inspirational autobiography, One Way Walk.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael, her son, Sean (Jill), grandson, Owen, brother Thomas Parks (Diane), and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
