Kathy Stokely Ellison AKA Nana K
October 16, 1958 – September 26, 2026
Born in Leesburg, Virginia
Passed away in Brevard, North Carolina
Kathy Stokely Ellison was a woman of strength, laughter, love, and an unforgettable spirit. She faced significant health challenges over the years, but she continued to defy expectations, regain her independence, and make the most of the time she was given. When the time came, Kathy was ready to go home, even though those who loved her were not ready to let her go.
Kathy loved deeply and wholeheartedly. She had a gift for making people laugh, making people feel loved, and treating many people as family whether they were related by blood or not.
She is survived by her children, Heather Boyd and Dustin Ellison; her bonus son, Jerome Williams; her grandchildren, Casey Aluotto, Cynthia Boyd, Patience Boyd, and Kristen Jeter; numerous bonus grandchildren; her parents, Jack and Vickie Stokely; her sister, Kim Stokely; her brother, David Stokely, and his wife, Sandy Stokely; her former husband and longtime friend, Ray Ellison; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Kathy was preceded in death by her grandson, Terrence Jeter; her brother, Jack Stokely; her brother-in-law, lovingly known as Bubby; and Mike Baker, the love of her life. Her family finds comfort in knowing that after missing Mike for so many years, Kathy finally reached her “until we meet again.”
And then there is Baker.
Kathy’s beloved dog, Baker, named after Mike, became one of the greatest joys of her life. He was her companion, her baby, and a source of purpose, comfort, and happiness as she regained her independence. Anyone who knew Kathy knew just how much she adores Baker. Her family is especially grateful that in her final hours, she knew Baker was safe, loved, and being cared for.
Kathy’s life will be remembered not for the challenges she faced, but for the laughter she created, the people she loved, the strength she showed, and the memories she leaves behind.
Her family will celebrate Kathy’s life on Sunday, October 18, 2026, just two days after what would have been her 68th birthday.
