Kenneth Gerald Edwards, 79, of Pisgah Forest, peacefully joined his heavenly father on Wednesday October 19, 2022 at his home. Gerald was born December 6, 1942 to Jay William Edwards and Mary Goodson Edwards in Burnsville, North Carolina. In 1962 Gerald met Vickie Liner whom he married in 1964.

His parents preceded him in death as well as sisters Dorris Justus, Diane Sumner, and brothers Mike and Jackie Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Liner Edwards, son Kenny Edwards of Pisgah Forest, and grandchildren whom he adored, Savanna and Storm. Gerald is also survived by brother Dennis Edwards (Maybell), his sisters Carolyn Owenby and Pecolia Edwards, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved with all his heart.

Gerald worked at Olin/Ecusta paper plant where he retired after 42 years as a supervisor. He was active in the community through the Ecusta bowling and Transylvania County softball leagues. Gerald had a passion for coaching little league baseball and followed his grandkids in all their athletics and school activities. Some of his favorite hobbies included hiking, gardening, fishing, and hunting with his family. Gerald was a Member of Brevard Wesleyan Church for many years.

Services will be held at Brevard Wesleyan Church on Friday, October 28, 2022 with visitation at 11 am to noon followed by a memorial lead by Pastor Richard Jelley and Pastor Hank Moffit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brevard Wesleyan Church in his memory.

The family would like to also thank Hospice Care Partners of Transylvania County for their loving care while keeping Gerald comfortable at home.
