L. C. "Bud" Case, 79, of Lake Toxaway, NC died peacefully on May 1, 2014. He was born on December 24, 1934 to Louise McCall and L. C. Case, Jr who preceded him in death. He was raised and spent most of his life in Lake Toxaway. He married Barbara Ann Mishoe of Marion, SC on June 21, 1964 and they spent just shy of 50 years of married life together. Bud and Barbara's family includes brother Bill and his wife Freda of Etowah; son Eddie of Charlotte; daughter Ann Edmondson and her husband Rob of Raleigh; and grandchildren Mary Anna and Marlee Case and Will and Elise Edmondson.
Bud was a longtime member and Deacon of North Toxaway Baptist Church where he served in many roles through the years. He was a member and officer of many organizations including the Fisher Family Reunion, Transylvania Retired School Personnel, NC Retired School Personnel, NC Association of Local Administrators, State Employees Credit Union Advisory Board, Transylvania County Soil and Water Conservation Committee, and Gideons International, Brevard Camp.
After graduating from Berea College in Berea, KY and after serving two years in the U.S. Army, Bud taught Agricultural Education in schools in North and South Carolina. Bud returned to Transylvania County in 1965 and, upon completing his Master's Degree in School
Administration from WCU, worked as a classroom teacher, Principal of T.C. Henderson Elementary, Assistant Superintendent, County Manager, and Director of Vocational Education. He was serving as the Western Region Coordinator of Vocational Education for the NC Department of Public Instruction when he retired in 1991.
Throughout his career and retirement, Bud impacted the lives of countless students, colleagues, family, and friends. The family has been touched by the stories that have been shared of his encouragement, compassion, and love.
The family invites family and friends to help celebrate Bud's life at North Toxaway Baptist Church on Friday, May 9 at 4PM. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 2PM. Bud was buried at Lake Toxaway Baptist Church in a private service.
