Brevard - Lana M. Morgan Burgess, 75, of Brevard, went to be with the Lord on March 14th, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Rube and Lavada Morgan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her middle child Cleve and her sister Mary L. Watson. She is survived by her husband, Tommy R. Burgess, of Brevard; her daughter Lynne Strickland and husband Tim of Monroe, N.C; son Marty Burgess and wife Laura and grandsons Walker and Jackson Burgess of Etowah, N.C. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard, N.C. During her life, she was active in many church, community and social groups. She retired after 30 years of work with Transylvania County Social Services. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be remembered for her love of people and her enduring faith. She never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. A memorial will be held on Sunday, March 19th at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Brevard, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family will hold a private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be sent to: Baptist Children's Home, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360.
