Lana Whitmire

August 5, 1948 – September 10, 2024

Lana Whitmire, 76, of Brevard, NC, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Brevard on August 5, 1948, she lived her entire life in the close-knit community she loved.

Lana was a proud graduate of Rosman High School and dedicated over 20 years of her career to Singer Manufacturing in Pickens. She and her husband of 52 years, Bruce Whitmire, proudly owned and operated Paul's Quick Service in Rosman together, where her warm personality and sense of humor brightened the lives of many who knew her.

Lana's greatest passions included cooking and crafting. She had a special appreciation for chocolate and enjoyed sharing her love of good food with others. Whether it was creating beautiful pieces of jewelry or sewing for her loved ones, she poured her heart into everything she made. An avid fan of country music, Lana attended many concerts with friends and family, always enjoying the joy it brought to her life.

Lana never met a stranger—her kindness and witty sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She was a dedicated animal lover, finding comfort and companionship in their company throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bruce Whitmire, her cherished sister, Cheryl Raines, and her close cousins, Mitch Raines and Rita Whitlock. She is also remembered with deep affection by many other family members and friends whose lives she touched profoundly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys W. Raines and Robert E. Raines.

Lana passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her most during her final days. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Tori's Home in Brevard for their loving care and support.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Middle Fork Cemetery.
