Lavada Maggard Woods, 85, of Brevard died on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Mrs. Woods was born January 30, 1926 to the late Floyd and Maggie McCall Maggard in Balsam Grove. She was the beloved wife of Talmadge Woods for over sixty years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Maggard and a sister, Opal Anderson. Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband Talmadge, and son, Steve Woods and wife Pat of Wisconsin, and two sisters, Donvie Kahl of California and Lolavee Miller and husband Roy of Indiana. The funeral service for Mrs. Woods will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2012, from 6 until 8 o'clock P.M. at the chapel of Moody Connolly funeral Home. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is caring for the family.
