Leon Dexter Shelton, 71, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Lake Toxaway, he was the son of the late Zollie Dexter Shelton and Edna Owen Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Grady and Ted Shelton, and his sisters, June and Veda Shelton, and Mabel Wilson. Mr. Shelton was retired from Coats American. Surviving are his wife, Wanda Owen Shelton; daughters, Pam Owen and husband Tony of Lake Toxaway, Kim Sisk of Pisgah Forest, and Amy Queen of Cashiers; son, Jason Shelton and wife Erica of Lake Toxaway; sisters, Madge York of Easley, SC, Faye Osteen of Brevard, and Nell Norton of Lake Toxaway; brothers, Johnny Shelton and wife Louise of Hayesville and J.D. Shelton of Etowah; grandchildren, Ashley and Crystal Owen, Cody Wright, Slade Sisk, Lesha, Dale, and Ben Riddle; great-grandson, Alex Castillo. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, June 14, 2010 at The Church at Sapphire with the Revs. Oliver Skerrett, Tommy Owen, and Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Mack McCall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Sunday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
