Lester Jay "Jake" Stamey, age 80, of Cedar Mountain went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jul 10, 2012. He was born May 24, 1932 in Transylvania County to his parents, the late Willie Jake Stamey of and the late Delphia Stamey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Jake Stamey, Jr. and Clifford and his sister Sylvia Leatherwood. Mr. Stamey was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Dunn's Rock Masonic Lodge. Mr. Stamey is survived by his wife, Mildred Shelton Stamey; sons Pete Stamey and wife Kathy of Fletcher, Edward Lee Stamey of Etowah, Roger Stamey and wife Joy of Brevard; daughters Colita Barton and husband Kenneth of Brevard, Karen Stamey Guy of Pisgah Forest, and Lisa Moss and husband Dwayne of Cedar Mountain; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home.
