Lester Charles "L.C." Wilson Brevard – Lester Charles "L.C." Wilson, 93 passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014. He was the son of the late Lester Benjamin and Nora Ross Wilson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Melvin Wilson and a sister. Mae McNeely. Lester proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a lifelong member of Cathey's Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 60 years. He was also a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and a choir member. He was employed for Olin Matheson Corporation for 44 years. He was a farmer and plowed gardens as a service to the community for years. He was a quiet man that was deeply loved by all who knew him. Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years; Lula Cassell Wilson, one son, Charles Thomas Wilson and wife Christine of Brevard; one daughter, Sue Wilson Kirkman and husband Ronnie of Mt. Airy, NC; a brother; Ross Wilson of Brevard, grandchildren; Kimberly Kirkman Beeson and husband Troy, Andrew Kirkman, Brandon Wilson and wife Sara, Josh Wilson and wife Nikki, great grandchildren; Lucas, Braden, Daisy and Riley, nephews; Dean Wilson and Boyd McNeely. Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Monday, April 7, 2014 at Cathey's Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors given by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cathey's Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 58 Cathey's Creek Church Rd, Brevard, NC 28712.
