Liesel Brown, 77, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. She was born on January 13, 1933 in Essen, Germany to the late Wilhelm Friedrich Groeber and Louise Erna Hollenbeck Groeber. In addition to her parents, Liesel was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Brown, her second husband, Lloyd Oye, who died in 2008, and a step grandchild, Renee. Her first husband, Paul Brown, built a trimaran (triple hull) sailboat named "Sea Eagle", which the couple sailed for many years off the coast of Southern California. A naturally caring person, she cared 24/7 for her first husband Paul Brown who suffered from cancer, and her second husband, Lloyd Oye, who suffered from Parkinson's Disease. Liesel was a professional seamstress. Surviving are four stepchildren: Dawn (Oye) Merrill, Alethea (Oye) Baker, Anita Oye, and Bruce Oye; and 10 step grandchildren. A celebration of Liesel's life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with Celebrant Gatha Dickson officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transylvania Regional Hospital.
