Obituary

Louise 'Lou' Rigdon Myers died Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Brian Center in Brevard, NC. Mrs. Myers was born April 3, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Mamie Galloway and Lewis H Rigdon. After graduating from high school, Lou moved to San Diego. While in San Diego, she worked for the US Government in the Vault designing bombers. She then received a degree in Art from Berea College in Kentucky. She taught Art for many years at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, TN. Her Art was shown in many places around the Southeastern United States. As her mother's health declined Lou returned to Brevard to help with her care. Lou received her Real Estate License and sold real estate for several years before retiring. Lou was much loved by her family and friends. She was known for her kindness, courage, and thirst for knowledge. Lou was an avid reader until she lost her eyesight. The family extends special thanks for the love and care given to Lou by special friends Pete, Annette, and Brittany Raines. Lou is survived by nieces Janice Paris; Terry Rogers and husband Charles; Sonya R. Bowen, special friend Lavern Stone; nephews Don Rigdon and wife Jean, and Ty Ross and wife Debbie. She is also survived by great nieces Monica Lee and husband Chris, Ashley Day and husband Brian, Jennifer Kelly, Kimberly Rigdon, Emily Gardner and husband Scott, Melissa Bowen, Jessica Bowen, Amber Sage, and great nephews Matt Rigdon and wife Sarah, Charlie Rogers and wife Lindsey and Ryan Ross. Also surviving are several great-great nieces and nephews; special cousins Howard Galloway, Becky McDaris, Marie Moses and husband Billy and Pam Wickliffe and husband Bob. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 5, 2011 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends at 1:00 pm at the Church. Burial will be in the Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Brevard or the Brevard Rescue Squad.
