Luther Calvin "L. C." Owen, Jr. Luther Calvin "L. C." Owen, Jr., of Balsam Grove, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. He was born on June 1, 1927 in Balsam Grove to the late Luther Calvin Owen, Sr., and Ethel McCall Owen. Mr. Owen was the only son of eleven children. He was retired from the U. S. Forest Service after 31 years of service, and he was a member and deacon of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Tritt and Elsie Owen. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Jean Owen of the home; daughter, Sandra E. McCall and husband Devon of Balsam Grove; grandchildren, Tracy Devon McCall and wife Delia, and Jeffery Scott McCall all of Balsam Grove; eight sisters, Marjorie Tritt and husband Bill, and Cumile Galloway and husband Dewey all of Balsam Grove, Annie Belle Owen and husband Vernie of Tuckasegee, NC, Grace Reece and Nola Pruitt both of Asheville, Veda McGuire of Boylston, Edna Hanson of Easley, SC, and Vivian Watkins of Winnsboro, TX. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 17, 2010 in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Aiken and Buster McCall officiating. Burial will be in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
