Lyllian Marion Beasy, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on May 9, 2024 in Brevard, North Carolina.

Marion was a retired educator who devoted her life to her family and to the many students she taught over her forty-two year career .

Marion was born in Greenwood, MS on September 23,1949 to Lyllian Irby Marion Tubbs and Buford Doyle Tubbs, Jr .

She grew up in Greenwood, attending First Presbyterian church, where her grandfather held one of the longest tenured as pastor. She graduated in 1967 from Greenwood High School and began attending Delta State University.

After graduating from Delta State she began her teaching career which included tenures in Greenwood and at Carroll Academy in Carrollton, MS . Marion served as director of First Presbyterian Church Kindergarten and then taught for her last 16 years at Bankston Elementary.

After retiring in 2014 , Marion moved to Ocean Springs, MS followed in 2016 by a move to Charleston, South Carolina.

In December of 2017 , she settled in Brevard , North Carolina. There she spent the rest of her life with her daughter and her family . Her time in North Carolina , making memories with her grandchildren, was considered a blessing she never took for granted.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents , Lyllian and Buford Tubbs, Jr. of Greenwood, MS.

She is survived by her sons Benjamin R. Barrentine of Flowood, MS and Brian C. Barrentine (Julie) of Woodland Park, CO, and her daughter Leslie Beasy Odom ( T.J.) of Brevard, NC . She was a proud Gigi to her grandchildren Preston James Odom , Greer Howard Odom, Marion Adelaide Odom, Lylli-Cohen Odom of Brevard , NC and Paige Taylor Davis of Dallas , TX . Marion is also survived by her brother, Buford D. Tubbs, III (Toni) of Greenwood, MS and a nephew Buford D. Tubbs IV "Chip" of Madison, MS .
