Lynn Olene Griffin Smallwood, 80 of Pisgah Forest died Monday November 30, 2009, She was born in Canton, NC July 31, 1929 to her loving parents, the late Elbert Griffin and Salie Williams Griffin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Smallwood of Pisgah Forest , five brothers; Glen, Danny and Hershel Griffin of Canton, Ray Griffin of Waynesville and Leonard Griffin of Balsam Grove. Survivors include her daughter Cathy Brown of Pisgah Forest, one sister Ernestine Lanning and her husband Troy of Canton , one brother Roy Griffin and his wife Barbara also of Canton, two sisters-in-laws Bea Griffin of Canton and Beatrice "Cubby" Griffin of Balsam Grove and her loving best friend Joyce Emory. Visitation will be Saturday December 5, 2009 from 2:00PM until 3:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday December 5, 2009 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Owen, Rev Charles Griffin and a prayer by Rev. Charles Pearson. Burial will follow at Pisgah Gardens With Military Honors, as a veteran Mrs. Smallwood was proud to serve her country as a member of The United States Marine Corps. After leaving the service in 1962 she and her daughter moved to Brevard where she was employed at Pearlmans Furniture Company which later became Rice Furniture Company after 20 years she left there employment and went to work for Olin and then retired. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark, Leslie, Sheriden, Wayne, Benny, Keith and Bill Griffin, Charlie Ballard and Stacy Jennings. Brevard, NC 28712 Mrs. Smallwood was a loving and devoted wife, Mother, sister and friend.
