Obituary

Lynwood Franklin Waller (Lyn), born November 25th, 1949, passed away on November 24th, 2023, one day shy of his 74th birthday after a short but intense battle with lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Teresa (Terri) Waller, his oldest daughter Kimberly Waller, granddaughter Kristina Waller and 2 great grandchildren. His oldest son, Joshua Waller, his daughter Brandy O'Connell (Price), His son-in-law Leo O'Connell, grandchildren Carolyn O'Connell, Leo Patrick O'Connell, his youngest son, Matthew Waller.

Lyn was born and raised in Taylor County Georgia. In a little town called Butler. He told me stories of riding the train "hobo style" to get from Butler to the next town over. He was raised by his grandparents, "Big Momma" and "Big Daddy". He enlisted in the Navy on Feb 27, 1969. He served during Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.

We moved to the mountains in 1994 and have made this place our home. He worked for Dupont for quite a few years and then did maintenance work at Mitchell Bissell. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to take trips, loved the ocean and always did the best he could in whatever situation he found himself in. He had a trike that he loved to take out and every year ride "The Tail of the Dragon" We loved riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway during all of the seasons, the mountains always provided new scenery. He had a different nickname from all of us, he was Gpa, Old Man, Honey Man and Dad, we all loved him deeply. As his last job during his retirement years, he was the best business partner and all around handyman at "The Sewing Shop" He will be greatly missed by us all.

He will be cremated with Veterans honors at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard NC. A small family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Solace Hospice House in Asheville, NC. and as final thought and plea, please consider stopping smoking and vaping.
