Maechel "Mike" Ole Patterson, age 79 of Brevard, NC formerly of Aurora, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Memorial Campus of Mis-sion Hospitals. Mike was born on May 31, 1941 in Riverside, CA. He served in the United States Marine Corps and had served as a Town of Aurora Commissioner for four years. Mike was a million mile long distant truck driver during his career. His favor-ite interest was flying model airplanes and as a child (12 years old) and as a Boy Scout, he won a competition for model airplanes and had an article writ-ten in the Kansas City Star about him. That was his passion for years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Helen Patterson; wives, Mary D, Patterson and Darlene D. Patterson (mother of his children), and a sibling, Harl Rice. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Owen Patterson; his children, Gail Patter-son, Shawn Patterson, Michele P. Jones (Paul), Kevin Patterson; stepson, Bri-an Owens; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Hillaker Brock of Dickerson, TN; brother, Tom Newman of Jacksonville, FL.
