Margaret "Peggy" Cagle Barton, 69, of Mountain Home, NC, was welcomed home into the Loving Arms of Jesus, October 08, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Jacob D. and Mildred H. Cagle of Hendersonville, NC. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, James "Larry" Barton, previously of Little River, NC; siblings, Diane Vojta (Jim) and Jimmy Cagle (Martha); children, Wendy Whitaker (Eric Hensley) and Barry Barton (Lisa); grandchildren, Erika Whitaker (Kris), Corey Barton, and Densen Whitaker (Aleigha), great- grandchild, Paisley Whitaker. She was known as G Pegs to Zachary Hensley (Katilyn and Liam), Cassidy Browning (Joshua and Jewels), and Sidney Hensley. Additionally, she is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that are like family. Peggy began her career working as a Candy Striper at Pardee Hospital. Upon graduating from West Henderson High School, she attended AB Technical College and earned her LPN. Later in life, Peggy attended Blue Ridge Community College and earned her Registered Nursing Degree. During her medical career, she worked in physician offices, long-term care facilities, and Pardee Hospital where she began and ended her career. She spent many years active within her church, French Broad Baptist. Peggy served on several committees, volunteered her nursing skills during Vacation Bible School, directed the Baptist Association Summer Camp, and was the self-appointed "Baby Rocker" during church service. She was known as Miss Peggy, by the children of the church, and she adored every one of them. She was also involved within the community directing West Henderson Youth Football and Cheerleading, serving as Classroom Mom and Grandmother with Balfour and Edneyville Elementary Schools, and Band Mom at West Henderson High School. Special Thanks to all the wonderful and compassionate staff with Four Seasons Hospice that provided Peggy with exceptional care. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory (Pisgah Forest, NC) on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 3:00 pm.
