Brevard - Margaret Corpening Gravely passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the age of 100.

Born in Bryson City, NC to the late Edwin and Lucretia Corpening, she was the youngest of four children. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her siblings, Ruth Jones and Edwin(Bud) Corpening of Brevard and Clarine Varner of Bryson City.

She was a devoted wife to the late Jack Austin Gravely for 66 years.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Jackie Tutterow (Lawrence) of Brevard and Marsha Headlee of Athens, GA, four grandchildren, Josh Tutterow (Jade), Laura Tutterow Poteat (Andy), Michael Headlee, and Graham Headlee and two great grandchildren, Conner and Emma, three nieces and one nephew.

Throughout her life, Margaret served her church in numerous capacities, but she especially enjoyed visiting the home bound. She and her sister, Ruth, were instrumental in establishing Christian Women's Club in Brevard. For her community, she served as a Hospital Volunteer for many years, a volunteer with Koala Adult Daycare, as well as a Lifeline Medical Alert Systems volunteer. She loved the Lord and cherished her family and her many friends.

Memorial services will be held 3:30pm, Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Brevard.  A Reception will be held 2pm in the Welcome Center.
