Marie A. Schmidt, age 91, a retired accountant with Maxwell House Coffee, passed away on January 31, 2011, in Tallahassee, FL. A native of Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick O. Grosse and Emilie Marie Ebel Grosse. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Neil Young, her second husband, Howard I. Schmidt, and her daughter, Emilie Marie Young. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church, and assisted with Bingo at the Brevard Elks Lodge. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by one daughter, Joyce Sealey of Monticello, FL; two step-daughters, Barbara S. Monteith of Pisgah Forest and Ann Brown of Fuquay-Varina, NC; grandchildren, John H. Monteith and wife Sharon of Brevard, Debbie M. Mathews and husband Doug of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Natalie D. Newcomb and husband John of Lucama, NC, Susan Durrett and Mark Durrett both of Lucama, John Michael Durrett and wife Paige of Florida; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Cole, John Allen, Alex, Joshua, Joseph, Evie, and Bree; a number of nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church.
