Marilyn Kay Carlson, 83, met our Lord Jesus Christ, and was reunited with her husband Carl in heaven on Sept. 23, 2024. She was born on May 28, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Rosemary Marshall.

Marilyn and Carl raised their family in Bridgewater, NJ where they were active in the Church and local community.  Marilyn was a prolific artist and showed at local art exhibits.  She enjoyed traveling, concert going, as well as cooking & entertaining and was famous for her cheesecake.

Upon retirement, Marilyn and Carl moved to Brevard, NC and built a mountain home that she enjoyed for 35 years. She loved living in the mountains, remained active in the church and made many dear friends and memories over the years.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl Carlson and her sister June Essig. Marilyn's legacy lives on through her children: son Alan Carlson and his wife Qi Hang; daughter Karin Hetherington (Carlson) and her husband Bill Hetherington; and grandchildren: Alyssa Hetherington, Kayla Hetherington and Cara Carlson.

Marilyn Kay Carlson will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her immediate and extended family and all who were blessed to know her.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Marilyn at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024 at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Brevard, NC.  The Good Shepherd Marilyn Carlson service will also be broadcast live on: www.youtube.com
