Marjorie Elizabeth (Betsy) Shea passed away on July 19, 2021 after a long illness and a valiant fight, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Born in Montclair, NJ and raised in Sea Girt, NJ, she was a true "Jersey Girl". She married her husband Chris on September 7, 1986 and worked as office manager for his veterinary practice in Allenwood, NJ. They moved to the Outer Banks of NC in 2000, where she opened a women's clothing store called Beach Petites, and lived there until moving to Pisgah Forest in 2014. Betsy worked at the White Squirrel Shop in Brevard for a while, then volunteered at the Transylvania Regional Hospital gift shop before volunteering in the outpatient surgery department until the COVID-19 shutdown last year. She was also an avid bridge player, and organized the bridge players at Silvermont senior center. Betsy loved her house in Pisgah Forest, and took pride in her fastidious housework. She loved flowers, especially yellow roses, and has a daylily named after her (Betsy's Joy). She is survived by her husband Chris; her sons Joe (in Arden, NC) and Tony (in Middletown, NJ); two grandsons Michael and Ryan (in Hazlet,NJ); and three sisters, Barbara, Susan and Laurie (in Ft Myers, FL).
