Obituary

Lake Toxaway - Lola Marlene Galloway Johnson, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 26th.

She was the daughter of the late Joe & Bessie Owen Galloway of Lake Toxaway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband- David "Dave" Johnson; daughter, Bobbie Raxter; Grandson, Michael Bradley; brothers, Dawson, Travis & Elvin Galloway; sisters, Dorene LaCroix and Joretta Owen.

Along with her husband Dave, the Johnsons' ran the Shell Station in the Quebec community for a number of years in the 1970s.

Marlene always had time to visit and was one of the first to arrive when a neighbor had a need or a family was bereaved. Marlene was a bold witness for Jesus Christ and before declining health limited her ability to go, she was a faithful member of Midway Bible Baptist Church. She loved her family, her friends, and her church family with an unwavering fierce God-given affection that touched the hearts of all who knew her and were blessed to be called Darling "Doorlynn" by Nannie Marlene. Marlene spent more than 70 years preaching her funeral by a life well-lived for Jesus.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Bradley (Jim) of the Norton Community, Buddy Johnson (Debbie) of Cashiers, Joe Johnson (Kristi) of Mills River, Ricky Johnson (Treva) of Lake Toxaway, and Don Johnson (Melissa) of Brevard. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, in addition to one sister; Brenda Tomlo (Tom) of Hendersonville, and one Brother, Rex Galloway (Grace) of Lake Toxaway. Many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

The family invites you to celebrate her life, Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 2pm at Midway Bible Baptist Church in Brevard with the Reverends Don Johnson, Rick Lee, and Randy Barton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm prior to the service at the church.
