Marvin Odell "Spunk" Monteith, age 88 of Brevard, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

Mr. Monteith was born on November 11, 1930 in Jackson Co., NC to the late Jim and Dora Kinsey Monteith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Moody Monteith and his grandson, Shane Franks. He was the last surviving sibling of his family.

Mr. Monteith was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and he was a member of Cathey's Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Monteith Gray and husband Ron of Anchorage, AK and Deborah Monteith Barr of Marion, VA; one grandson, Zachary Gray; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Gray; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
