IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvita Faye
Galloway
January 24, 1937 – March 5, 2025
Rosman - Marvita Faye Hall Galloway, 88, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 surrounded by her four children.
Her husband, Bill, as well as most of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Marvita was born in Jackson County, NC to Cynthia Owen Hall and Alda Hall though she was a proud resident of Transylvania County and of Rosman in particular for most of her life. She led an eventful life. Marvita attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Balsam Grove, cooked breakfast for her six surviving brothers and sisters on a wood stove from the time she was seven years old, and not very long after graduating from Rosman High School she eloped to Sylva on Christmas Day, 1956 with Thomas W. (Bill) Galloway, to whom she remained married for 62 years. The only time they spent apart was when Bill was stationed in Japan for two years while he served in the Air Force. The two never went to bed without telling each other, "I love you," even during the many stressful tax seasons when they ran Bill's Bookkeeping and Tax Service. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Rosman for most of her adult life.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Morgan and Linda's husband Ronnie of Furman, SC; her children, Billy Galloway of Piedmont, SC, Sherry Fendley and her husband James of Brevard, NC, Heidi Galloway of Morganton, NC, and Candace Newman and her husband Alton of Rosman, NC; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many non-biological family members who call her "Mom" or "Grandma." She leaves behind a legacy of love.
