Mary Elizabeth Barton Garrett Hendersonville – Mary Elizabeth Barton Garrett, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Hendersonville. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis P. and Minnie Faye McGaha Barton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Julia B. Hoxit and Emily B. McMurray, and her brothers, Ralph, Claude, Carl, and Allen Barton. Surviving are her daughters, Sandy Mayfield and husband Chuck of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Patricia L. Garrett of Morro Bay, CA; sister, Ellen E. Stepp of Hendersonville; brother, Walter C. Barton and wife Anna Lee of Pumpkintown, SC; sisters-in-law, Helen H. Barton of Hendersonville, and Ruth B. Barton of See Off Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Michael and Shaun Mayfield, Brittany Sumner, and Blair Tanger; six great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow at the home of her niece, Elizabeth Ogle, off of Crab Creek Rd.
