Asheville - Mary Ann McGaha Lance, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 after several years of illness and complications with dementia.

A native of Transylvania County, Mrs. Lance was the daughter of the late Walter and Thelma P. McGaha. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter P. McGaha.

She was a graduate of Brevard High School and Blanton's Business College. She was employed by Ecusta for 42 years and loved her work. Employers and co-workers were like family to her. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing and any type of outside work. She loved all animals, especially cats. She was a former member of Carrs Hill Baptist Church and more recently of Calvary Baptist Church in West Asheville.

Survivors include her husband and best friend of 65 years, Charles "Chuck" Lance and one nephew, Curt Mcgaha of Florida and several dear friends.

At her request, no formal services will be held.
