Mary Ellen Hoover McGarvey Brevard – Mary Ellen Hoover McGarvey, 59, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at her residence. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Moore Hoover. Mrs. McGarvey was a Registered Nurse. She was a 1971 graduate of Brevard High School, and was a graduate of Marymount College and UNCA. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth L. McGarvey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Sue McGarvey of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law, Steven McGarvey of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Pam McGarvey and husband Tom Ottey of Columbus, OH. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2012 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Transylvania Co. Humane Society, 84 E.
