Brevard – Mary Watson Owenby, 82, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hannah Fox Watson and was the wife of the late Bill Owenby. Mrs. Owenby was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Gayle Metcalf and husband David of Decatur, AL; brothers, Bedford Watson and wife Marie of Pisgah Forest, and Lawrence Watson and wife Evelyn of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, Spencer Metcalf and Tracy Strickland; great-grandchildren, Justin Wales and Skye Strickland; a number of nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 25, 2011 at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Madden officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church.
