Ms. Mary Louise "Susie" Padgett departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

Susie was born on August 9, 1938 to the late George Volney McCall and Ellen Orr McCall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Doug" Padgett, six brothers and three sisters.

Susie attended Transylvania County schools, worked in textile manufacturing, owned her own business and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4309 Auxiliary. She was also a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Susie loved to garden, play bingo, listen to music, watch sports, and spend time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Gary Phillips (Rachel), Pam Phillips Coleman (Harry), Patricia "Trish" Phillips Smith, Timothy "Tim" Phillips, Sherwin Dale "Dick" Phillips (Julie), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service to honor Ms. Mary Louise "Susie" Padgett will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home (181 South Caldwell Street, Brevard, NC) at 2 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Susie will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory (994 Hendersonville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC).
