Mary Lou Parker Pressley, 74, of Pisgah Forest, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. A native of Jackson County and long time resident of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Vivian Parker. Also preceding her in death were two sisters; Becky Symons and Jimmie Bryson. She was an active and beloved member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. She loved life and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed family get togethers, birthdays, holidays, and any reason for family and friends to come by the Pressley pool!! Surviving is her devoted husband of 57 years, William (Bill) Pressley, of Pisgah Forest, NC; daughters Carolyn Shuford and husband, Jeff, of Pisgah Forest, NC, Penny Higginbotham and significant other, David Freeman, of Brevard, NC, Trish Pressley of Denver, CO; sons Doug Pressley and wife, Doris, of Brevard, NC, Sammy and wife, Jessica, of Brevard, NC, and Jason and wife, Sherry, of Brevard, NC; grandchildren Duncan Pressley and wife, Shannon, Dustin Pressley, Andy McCranie and wife, Katie, Alyssa Landreth and husband, Isaac, Lauren Stanley and husband, Dan, Jake Higginbotham and significant other, Kayla Montgomery, Levi Higginbotham and wife, Melanie, Avery Shuford, Addison Shuford, Drew Pressley, Kaitlyn Pressley, Megan Pressley, Cade Pressley, Avery McCarson, and Kenley McCarson; great grandchildren Cheyenne Pressley, William Pressley, Evelyn Pressley, Mason McCranie, Harper McCranie, Cole McCranie, Kira Landreth, Arik Landreth, Jaxin Landreth and Graison Montgomery. The family extends a special thanks to all the staff and doctors at the Brevard Cancer Center and the Transylvania Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest. The Rev. Jason Kittrell will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
