Michael Laverne Edwards, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was the son of the late Jay W. and Mary Goodson Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie W. Edwards and his sister, Doris Justus. Mike graduated from Brevard High School in 1969. He was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, employed by Ecusta for fifteen years. He loved art and enjoyed painting. He adored his nieces and nephews. Surviving are his brothers; Dennis Edwards and wife Maybelle of Etowah, Gerald Edwards and wife Vickie of Pisgah Forest, sisters; Carolyn Owenby and husband Charles of Pisgah Forest, Diane Sumner of Pisgah Forest and Pecolia Edwards of Pisgah Forest, nephews; Mark Potter, Kevin Edwards, Kenny Edwards, Travis Sumner and wife Deana, Brian Sumner and wife Natalie, Forest Bunzy, Chuck Owenby and wife April, Chad Owenby and wife Nicole, Storm Edwards, Peyton and Padgett Sumner, nieces; Dawn Kelsey, Jacqueline Creamer, Savanna Edwards, Marlee Owenby, Piper Owenby, Maggie Sumner and Kate Boyd, extended family; Saul and Kane Reynolds and Moby Sorrells. Memorial Services will be held 1:30pm Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Brevard Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Richard Jelley. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:30pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brevard Wesleyan Church-Heritage Hall Project, 583 N Broad Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
