Pisgah Forest - Michael Oscar Owens was born to the late George Elliott Owens and Bernetha Mills Owens in Brevard, NC 0n August 8, 1941. He passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

Mike, as he was so fondly known, graduated from Ninth Avenue High School, Hendersonville, NC and then moved to Brooklyn, NY. When he returned back to Brevard, he worked at various establishments and retired from Pisgah Forest Elementary School. Mike was a long time member of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved watching football and FETV.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Angelo Johnson, three brothers, Billy Smith, George, and Daniel Owens and sisters, Gotherine, Eula Betsill and Vessie "Chick" Crite.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sister and caregiver, Nancy Williams, brother-n-law, LC Betsill, special niece and caregiver, Terron Allen and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children.

Graveside services will be held 11am, Monday, October 10, 2022 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
