Obituary

Mignon "Minnie" Klapp Coleman Mignon "Minnie" Klapp Coleman, longtime servant of God, came face to face with her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2013. She is a well-known Bible teacher and minister. Minnie and her husband Dick were pioneers in the early days of the Charismatic Renewal, having received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in 1967. Westside Church in Leesburg, Florida, eventually became nationally known as one of the hubs of the Renewal movement. She was her husband's teammate in ministry beginning with their first pastorate, Mt. Harmony Baptist Church near Roxboro, North Carolina, from 1958 to 1963. They moved back to their home state of Florida and pastored Westside Church (now Leesburg Christian Center) from 1963 to 1981. In 1985, they helped establish a church in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 1990, Dick and Minnie were called to Living Waters, a non-denominational Christian ministry and retreat center in Balsam Grove, North Carolina. Here, she was an administrator (later Vice-President), Bible teacher, as well as provider of spiritual oversight to the ministry. She also continued a limited travel ministry during that time. In 2000, her beloved husband of almost fifty-two years departed to Heaven. Minnie continued her calling at Living Waters for another ten years. In addition, she was on the Ministry Peer Review Board and the Board of Elders of Victory Harvest Church Ministries, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as well as an elder at Joy Outreach Fellowship, Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. Minnie is a tremendously gifted servant of God with a deep passion for the Kingdom of God and the Church. Her ministry included a compassion for young people. She was very passionate in particular about the summer youth camps at Living Waters where Godly foundations were laid for untold numbers of young people. In addition, she had a deep love for Israel, and had the privilege of visiting that land from time to time. Minnie is the daughter of Clifton and Vera Klapp of Wildwood, Florida. Her suviving family includes: Her three sons, Wayne Coleman (wife Sandra who recently went to Heaven) of Ft. Worth, Texas; Timothy Coleman (wife Nancy) of Horse Shoe, North Carolina; and Darryl Coleman (wife Leigh) of Charlotte, North Carolina.
