Mike R. Meany, age 72 of Brevard died Friday July 23, 2010, at Pardee Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. He was born September 10, 1937 in Wisconsin to the late Leo and Barbara Konop Meany . Mike was a resident of Transylvania County since 1971 as a Realtor and Developer he developed 23 successful communities in Transylvania, Henderson and Buncombe counties. Mike was a devoted father and grandfather and a friend who was admired by many. He was one of the world's most humble, honest and unpretentious people. Mike found happiness in his wonderful home in its natural setting and with his dear friends Nick Lambert and Jim Kimzey. Survivors include his beloved wife Jean Judge of the home, one son; John Meany and his wife Kim of Pisgah Forest, one daughter; Sydney Jeffrey and her husband Scott of Clarksville Va., one brother; Jim Meanyof Penn. two sisters; Pat and Barbara both of Wisconsin, two grandchildren Beau and Brett Meany of Pisgah Forest, numerous nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Alabama and Tennessee. Memorial services will be held Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 11:00am at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Don Waters. A reception will follow the service at the Porter Center.
