Molly McCall Wilmot
Molly McCall Wilmot, also known to her family as "Mimi", was born to F. L. "Buck" McCall and Inez Alexander McCall on July 26, 1933. Molly passed peacefully on May 13, 2023, at the age of 89 at The Landings of Mills River.
Molly loved music. During her high school years, she was a member of the Ecusta Girls Trio, played trombone in the Ecusta band, and was the band's first female drum major. Molly was a very proud Democrat and former Chairman of the Transylvania County Democratic Party. She was also very active in many local and state committees. Her early career included a stint with the FBI in Washington, D.C. She was especially proud of her work on Jimmy Carter's presidential campaign and attended his Inaugural Ball. Molly served on the Transylvania County DSS and ABC Boards and as a member of the Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She also served as Director of the Transylvania Red Cross for a number of years. Molly was very active with the Board of Elections in Transylvania County and was a member of the NC DHSR ACLS for Transylvania County nursing home inspections and ratings. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; brother, Fred McCall, Jr.; and son in-law, Paul Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Jones (Michael), Deborah Johnson, and son, Keith (Missie); six grandchildren, Lesley Ledford, Alex Gray, Lindsay Wilson, Taylor Young, Michael Wilmot, and Tiffany Horne; seven great-grandchildren, Parker Wilson, Whit Wilson, Trace Wilmot-Young, Darby Ledford, Molly Young, Charles Young, and Natalie Horne.
At Molly's request, no formal services are planned. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to all the wonderful, caring staff at The Landings of Mills River and Four Seasons Hospice Care.
