Neil Clarence Lyday Sapphire – Neil Clarence Lyday, 83, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Coleman and Arvie Hubbard Lyday. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Cliff and Cecil Lyday, and his sisters, Lovene Kenny and Pauline Beddingfield. Mr. Lyday was an avid outdoorsman and he loved his family. He was a member of Blue Valley Baptist Church in Highlands. Surviving are his wife, Ann McKinney Rice Lyday; daughters, Joan Fisher of Lake Toxaway, Rachel Schneider and husband John of Lake Toxaway, and Darla McCall of Cashiers; son, Randy Lyday and wife Teresa of Sapphire; step-sons, Sammy Rice and wife Martha of Cashiers, and Danny Rice and wife Karen of Glenville; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Heady Mtn. Baptist Church with Rev. Oliver Rice and Rev. Eddie Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Montvale-Whitewater Cemetery, Sapphire. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the church.
