Nellean Owen, age 72 of Lake Toxaway, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Harlow and Clora "Cricket" Owen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Wilson. Nellean attended Calvary Baptist Church and served her community through volunteer work at God's Way Fellowship. She began her career as a Bell Telephone Operator the day after graduating high school and retired as a Certified Project Manager for AT&T. Nellean was the first member of her family to graduate from college. She was a fabulous cook and had a passion for travel. Survivors include her loving companion, JC Stamey of Lake Toxaway, one daughter, Karen Tobey and husband Scott of Flowery Branch, GA, sisters, Dora Bell of Fletcher, Jollean Blake and husband Steve of Balsam Grove and Harlean Owen of Balsam Grove. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
