Niels Blume Knudsen, 97, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Tore's Home #1, Brevard, NC. A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, he was the son of the late Aage Blume Knudsen and Martha Sass Knudsen. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Louise McNab, his second wife, Frances Jacobi Knudsen, and his brother, Franz Blume Knudsen. Mr. Knudsen came to the United States in 1939 and served in Europe for the US Army during WW II. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Patricia Love of Horsholm, Denmark, and Mrs. Elizabeth Cummings of Birmingham, MI; sister, Mrs. Inge Maaloe of Grenaa, Denmark; seven grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Love, Susanna Callaway, David, Jessica, and Amanda Cummings, and Julie Dick; seven great-grandchildren, Sophie and Clara Lindhart-Love, Andrew and Caroline Cummings, Annika Guldager-Love, Emily and William Dick. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Oak View Cemetery, Royal Oak, MI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund of Brevard First United Methodist Church.
