Norene (Nanny) Marie Bailey Thompson of Rosman NC. She died at age 89. She was born June 16, 1934, in Crumpler WV she passed away on April 18, 2024. Norene passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children in Transylvania Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Norene was a good faithful Pastor's wife and helpmate and support of his work as a Pastor.  She was faithful to Christ & His church. She loved to play both the organ & piano and sing in the choir in all the churches in which they served. She worked with children, youth and puppet ministries.  She was a loving Wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to cook and have kids and people in her home.

Norene is preceded in death by her parents Fowler & Cordie Bailey, Daughter Diane Marie Thompson, Sister Helen Bailey, Brothers Bud Bailey, Rouse Bailey, Jimmy Bailey, and Granddaughter Diane Marie Rice.

Survivors include her husband of 67 ½ years Rev. Allen Thompson (Pa), daughter Lynnette Artrip (Tim), of Falls Mills VA, Sons Mark Thompson (Teresa) of Rosman NC, Tim Thompson (Joy) of Midland GA, and Stephen Thompson (Angie) of Lake Toxaway NC. 12 Grandchildren, Jason Artrip (Christine): Luke Thompson (Erica), Jesse Thompson (Tiffany), Melissa Thompson:  Anna Jackson (Brad), TJ Thompson, Samantha Hodge (Kyle): Heather Farmer (Jason), Jacob Thompson (Audrey), Kayla Almany (Garrett), Evan Thompson. 16 Great Grand Children, Kaitlyn, Scarlett, Mitch, Wiley, Barrett, Bristol, Cali, Kenley, Emma, Mikayla, Madyson, Griffin, Jeremiah, Aubrey, Mason, Ansley.

The family would like to thank all the first responders of Rosman Fire and EMS that have help Norene over the years.  We would also like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care they gave her and a special thank you to Dr. Nash and his staff for their care and compassion.

The funeral will be a held-on Saturday April 20,2024 at Enon Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest NC at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends April 20,2024 at 12:30pm at the church. Graveside service will follow at Davidson River Cemetery. Rev Allen Mullins & Rev Michael Skinner will be officiating.  The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
