Penrose – O. Dwight Sprouse "Butch" passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Elizabeth House after a brief illness. Butch was born in Union County, SC on September 27, 1945. He was the son of the late Leonard Lee and Vera Blackwell Sprouse. He graduated from Jonesville High School in 1963 and located to Brevard in 1965 where he worked for Ecusta until retiring in 2002. Butch was a member of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church and was honored to serve in the SC National Guard for 6 years. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and sharing his garden with friends. Butch socialized daily in his garage with friends and family. He was a wonderful cook and loved to can the vegetables he grew. He enjoyed watching old westerns and reading about the west. One of his greatest pleasures was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Lelia "Bunny" Sprouse, two sons, Brian D. and wife Lisa of Marion, NC and Mark P. of Penrose, one sister, Donna Payne of Rock Hill, SC, three grandchildren, Emory, Sean and Ryan Sprouse. A celebration of life will be held 1pm, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Elizabeth House, 581 S.
