Obituary

Opal Denton Buchanan, 88, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2013 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. A native of Hiawassee, GA, she was the daughter of the late D. Denton and Myrtle Eller Denton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Nicholson, Gladys Hooper, Dorsey Worley, Edith Chambers, Ethel Everett, and her brother, Earl Denton. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brevard and was a member of the Pisgah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #198. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, John Davis Buchanan; son, John Lamar Buchanan and wife Candace of Greenville, SC; brother, George Denton and wife Bonnie of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan T. Buchanan and wife Christy of Greer, SC, and Laura E. Buchanan of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Emily Wooten, Jon Mitchell Buchanan, and Olivia Ann Paulk. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Ronnie Hyder and Preacher Sherrill Hubbard, and the Pisgah Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star #198 officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable, or contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, Flat Rock, NC.
