Otis "Kermit" Phillips (85) of Mills River went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24 2025.

He was a native of Jackson County and one of 13 children of the late Hester W. and Hattie Mathis Phillips. He worked for many years at Kyocera.

Kermit was preceded in death by his brothers Jim, Odell, Dealous "Slim", J.L."Jake" and sisters Otelia Rigdon, Denia Nicholson, Mary Jane Owen, Birdell Garren, Edith Greer, Lobelia Shelton and Kathleen Collins.

He is survived by daughter Donna White of Hammond, LA, son Keith and wife Jeralene of Mills River and sister Juanita McCall of Mills River.  Grandchildren, Kristina Paz Ramos of Hammond, LA, Denver Worley of Weaverville, and Kyra and Kaylie Phillips of Mills River, and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday July 28, 2025 from 6-8pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC.  There will be a private burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Four Seasons Hospice.
