Patricia Ann Patterson Bishop, age 74, passed away February 22, 2010 at her home.  She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Violet Patterson, Brother Harry Patterson, brother-in-law Charley Brewer, nephew Benjamin Brewer, and numerous cats and dogs.

Pat was a native of Transylvania County and is most likely best known for the many years of service and devotion she gave as a history teacher at Brevard High School where she touched so many people, both students and peers.  Pat had a passion for life.  She loved her family, friends, pets, nature, and the History of Western North Carolina.  Perhaps her most memorable attribute was her giving spirit and making people happy.  The best tribute we can all give in her memory is to seek to live and love as she did.

She is survived by her husband Jerry S. Bishop of the home, daughter Tracy L. Bishop of Asheville; son Matthew D. Bishop of Brevard; sister Gaynelle Brewer of Pisgah Forest, niece Brenda Brewer , nephew Terry Brewer and wife Lynn, great niece Molly Brewer , great nephew Benjamin Brewer and two cats Peedey and Hootie.  She had recently lost her beloved dog Gabe who was her constant companion.

A celebration of life service will be on March 6, 2010 at 11:00 in the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home with a reception immediately following at Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Humane Society or Transylvania County Hospice, www.tchospital.org .
