IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Lynn
Dearbaugh
January 29, 1952 – September 10, 2024
Patricia "Pat" Dearbaugh, a true force of grace and resilience, passed peacefully in North Carolina on September 10, 2024. Pat was born in Huntington, West Virginia on January 29, 1952 and grew up in the quaint town of South Point, Ohio before marrying her high-school sweetheart.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Wes Dearbaugh, and their children, Amy (Trent) MacHale and Adam (Sarah) Dearbaugh; her four adoring grandchildren, Cole, Owen, Hannah, and Blake; her loving brothers, Randy (Rita) Hardy and Jon (Jen) Hardy, along with nieces and nephews, David, Kate, Josh, Aiden, and her sister-in-law, Charla Hardy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Opal Hardy and brother, Fred Hardy.
A treasured friend to many, Pat's radiant spirit made her the center of every gathering. She was known for her sharp mind and competitive nature, which she showcased in her devout bridge groups from Illinois to Arizona. Her love for the game began in Naperville with neighbors then after moving to Arizona in the 90's, she began her own bridge group in Scottsdale. Pat often said she loved her family, her friends, and bridge "just a bit" and then always would refer to her cherished scorecard as the pinnacle of her biggest bridge win of all time!
Pat's generosity was unmatched. She was everyone's person with her inviting smile and after one conversation, you felt like you've been friends with her forever. Always up for a roadtrip, Pat's adventures included unforgettable moments like the time she smuggled homemade meatballs into Mexico and got caught by border control trying to bring the leftovers back into to the U.S! She leaves behind the gift of laughter and love from stories told over the years.
Pat's grandchildren will always be the highlight of her life. She celebrated every achievement and milestone with immense pride. She was well known for her enthusiastic support at her grandkids' sporting and school events. Pat was the queen of family game nights, rounding up the crew for marbles, Euchre or challenging her son, Adam, to epic backgammon battles. Her competitive spirt lives on in each of the grandkids which makes future family game nights the best opportunity for sharing all of the greatest memories…and we will never forget the sound of the famous loud clap— her self proclaimed only talent!
Throughout her courageous journey with breast cancer, Pat chose to live each day with unwavering positivity and zest for life. Her humor, grace and ability to make the most of every moment will forever inspire those who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and everyone fortunate enough to have shared in her incredible life.
Celebration of Life events will be announced through family social media pages. Please consider making a donation in Pat's name to give.bcrf.org in support of breast cancer research.
