Paul Owen of Balsam Grove passed away on November 18, 2025 at his home. He was born June 23, 1942 in Canada Township, Jackson County to the late Loren and Thelma Galloway Owen.
Paul worked at Ecusta for 27 years while running various small businesses selling shrubbery, Christmas trees, pumpkins, firewood, logs, and wormy chestnut lumber.
Paul was also an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting, bear hunting, and fishing – mostly within the bounds of the game laws….
Paul had a very fun, outgoing, and boisterous personality. He was hardly ever without a story to tell, something funny to say, or advice to give. Paul cherished his family and was very proud of each one. Whether traveling out west, bear hunting, fishing, going to church, or just riding around the community in his UTV, Paul made many friends along the way.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his daughter Paula Aiken, brother Robert Owen, sisters Mary Rose Hoxit, Faye Fletcher, Linda Sentelle, Patricia Cagle, and beloved brother-in-law Joe Fletcher.
Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years Dorothy Price Owen, son Patrick Owen (Michelle); 8 grandchildren: Dakota Owen (Dale), Kansas Dodson (Shaun), April Wilson (John), Austin Aiken (Nicole), Ressie Mae Owen, Grace Owen, Callie Owen, and Augustus Owen; 6 great- grandchildren: Colton Dodson, Lily Dodson, Cleaman Dodson, AlliMae Dodson, Gatlin Aiken, and Addie Aiken. Paul is also survived by his brothers Tommy Owen (Sharon), Ernest Owen (Sandra), and Gary Owen (Glenda). Many, many nieces, nephews, special cousins and dear friends also.
Paul was an active member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home on Thursday November 20, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm. The funeral will be Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2pm at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Balsam Grove.
