Brevard - Peggy Sewell Singleton, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Born on December 31, 1943, in Hartwell, Georgia, she was the beloved daughter of Mary and John Sewell.

Peggy pursued her education at West Georgia College, graduating in 1963, and dedicated her life to teaching. She began her career as a high school English teacher in Lanette, Alabama. She later moved to Transylvania County, where she made a lasting impact as a teacher, principal, and director of special education. She concluded her illustrious career as the special education coordinator for Buncombe County, where her passion for education and advocacy greatly enriched the lives of countless students.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Peggy was deeply committed to her church community at First Baptist Church of Brevard. She was an active participant in numerous mission groups and embraced every opportunity to serve others. Peggy worked with the Homebound group, bringing joy to those who could no longer attend church by delivering holiday fruit baskets and fostering connections within the community. Her involvement in the Women's Ministry Union (WMU) and the Hostess Committee showcased her generosity and unwavering dedication.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Zogg, and her grandchildren, Amber Teets (married to Gavin Teets) and Alexis Zogg. Peggy was deeply loved by her community, where she made meaningful contributions. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished in our hearts."

Memorial services will be held 2pm, Sunday, August 24, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Brevard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
