Brevard - Rachel Olivia Buchanan, age 18, passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident on October 20, 2021. She was born April 2, 2003, in Brevard to the late Mary Dobbins and Robert Buchanan II. She was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Sean and Christina Dobbins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Dobbins, her maternal Grandfather, Frank Dobbins, her Nana, Shirley Raines, and brother, John Adam. Survivors include her father, Robert Buchanan II of Swannanoa, Uncle and Aunt, Sean and Christina Dobbins of Brevard, Grandmother, Frances Dobbins of Brevard, Grandfather, Pastor Paul Raines of Brevard, brothers, Elwood Buchanan and Zachary Dobbins both of Brevard, Jacob Cochrane of Rutherfordton, and sisters, Rebekah Dobbins of Brevard, Courtney Buchanan of Clyde, and Brittany Buchanan of Asheville, and three nieces, Nyah Greenarch, Keri Buchanan-Walden, Payton Kennedy, and nephew, Conner McKinney , many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins and her fiancé, Chris Shields of Hendersonville and her dog, Buck. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She was passionate about horses, animals, family, church, and helping any one in need. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all that loved and knew her.
