James Nicholson, 58, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at St Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC.

He was born July 4, 1963 in Transylvania County, North Carolina, the son of late Furber and Rilla Johnson Nicholson of Lake Toxaway, NC.

James attended Rosman High School. He started contracting and painting and body work at the age of 16. James was a General Contractor for 36 years. He married the love of his life Cindy Monroe June 14, 1985, and settled in Liberty SC. He was a Fireman with 3&20 FD for 25 years, an EMT for 5 years, and a Deacon of Wren Baptist Church for several years.

He was predeceased by his parents and niece, Ashley Nicholson. Surviving in addition to his wife, Cindy Monroe Nicholson, are his daughters Brittany Nicholson and spouse Jason Davis of Liberty SC, and Kimberly Nicholson Purvis and spouse Jake of Liberty SC; three grandchildren, Levi Davis, Stella and Rowan Nicholson, and soon to be Emmett-James Purvis; his brother, Allen Nicholson (Kim) of Brevard, NC; sisters, Judy Jackson (Brian) of Mill Spring, NC, Patricia Galloway (Stanley) of Lake Toxaway, NC, Sandra Nicholson (Emmett) of Brevard, NC; sister-in-law Judy Crowley (Trudy) of Liberty, SC; brothers-in-law Jerry Monroe (Mindy) of Glen Rose, TX, and Jimmy Monroe (Deborah) of Jackson, GA; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family at 1 PM and the funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church (649 KimMiller Road, Lake Toxaway, NC 28747 with Reverend Harold Sanders officiating.Burial will be in the E. D. Owen Cemetery.
